CES Celebrates 5 Year Milestone
Union, Missouri
April 4th, 2008

Crystal Extrusion Systems (CES), a rapidly expanding specialty aluminum extrusion firm, is celebrating its 5-year anniversary. Based in Union, MO, CES produces aluminum extrusion profiles used in residential and commercial fenestration manufacturing as well as for other building and industrial products. The company started out humbly in 2003 as a means of simply improving material control and reducing costs for its parent company, but has since expanded its services into new markets. Attentions to quality, investment in leading-edge technology, and staff expertise have been key factors in its expansion success.

CES now supports 50 full-time employees, ships over 5.5 million pounds of product annually, and has significantly grown its regular customer base. "Growth has only just begun for CES. We have very competitive extrusion services and our powder coat paint finishing line is second to none," said Thomas Ziegler, Vice President of Operations. "I believe we have a

great opportunity to grow significantly in the coming years. The first 5 years of business for CES has been transforming, but I anticipate that the next 5 years will be equally so. This anniversary is truly one to celebrate."

In 2003, CES began operations in Union, Missouri with eight employees in an acquired existing aluminum manufacturing plant. Its entire product of aluminum extrusion profiles went directly to its parent company for use in window and door fabrication. Soon thereafter, CES completely replaced the original wet paint equipment with a $1.4 million state-of-the-art powder coat system.

With the installation of the new finishing equipment complete, CES began expansion beyond service to only its parent company. To support this effort, CES hired industry veteran Thomas Ziegler in June 2006 to lead the company’s operations. Mr. Ziegler identified target markets outside the fenestration industry for business expansion opportunities. In addition, he streamlined operating procedures, developed of a full staff of business development representatives and attained national certification for CES as an approved applicator of powder finishes by PPG and Akzo Nobel. CES is now actively involved with other types of products such as marine craft components, sun rooms, signage, shelving, office furniture and partitions, and containers. The firm is also working to develop business in automotive related fields.
